My Journey from Vans & Buses to Domes

From Lavender Moon Spaces to DomeCraft ATX

Every journey starts with a spark of inspiration. For me, it began with a vision in a hot tub in 2020. In the midst of an uncertain future, I needed a dream. I didn't know it yet, but soon after I had my first vision of a dome community, I would move out to Texas on raw land to start making the dream happen.

I left behind a thriving business specializing in van and bus conversions right as the market was popping off.

I was on a mission to create spaces that, not only, connect people with nature, but also allow us to be in a more creative and less traditional environment.

Why Domes?

When I first discovered geodesic domes, I was captivated by their beauty and practicality. They’re not just structures—they’re experiences.

I became captivated by the geometry and energy of domes. As I explored the various dome options, I aimed to find the best one that suited our budget, time, and energy.

My husband and I were confined in a compact 20-foot trailer, accompanied by our two sizable dogs and spending much of our day tending to the land, chickens, and other building projects. We were exhausted and squeezed into a minuscule area, desperately in need of a swift solution.

I searched the market for a fast and simple dome solution and eventually chose geodesic glamping domes.

I liked that they were more sustainable than yurts (because they use a steel frame), more pest and mold resistant than wood, and I also loved that they were much more resilient to weather due to their structure, which distributes loads more evenly.

After experiencing the torturous process of insulation, drywall, and all the in-between involved in outfitting a barn we were converting into a living space, we were thrilled about the ease of installation associated with the geodesic glamping dome we purchased.

Within just 1 week, we prepped the site and foundation and set up the entire dome, with just the two of us and the help of his brother.

After that, I was sold.

I knew that more people needed to know about the benefits and opportunities with domes.

Since then, I've sold, built and designed domes for friends and family seeking similar options like me. And along the way, I've also discovered that the short-term rental opportunity of domes is unlike anything else on the market right now!
